📝 SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination – Overview
The SSC CHSL (Staff Selection Commission – Combined Higher Secondary Level) exam is a national-level competitive examination conducted to recruit candidates for various Group C posts in ministries, departments, and organizations of the Government of India. It is open to candidates who have completed their Class 12 (10+2) education.
📌 Purpose of the Exam
To recruit eligible 12th-pass candidates for the following posts:
- Lower Division Clerk (LDC)
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
- Postal Assistant (PA) / Sorting Assistant (SA)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO)
- DEO Grade ‘A’ (in CAG offices and other departments)
📚 Eligibility Criteria
🔹 Educational Qualification:
- Must have passed 12th standard (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
- For DEO (CAG/Comptroller and Auditor General Office) – Candidates must have Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.
🔹 Age Limit:
- Minimum: 18 years
- Maximum: 27 years
- Age relaxation applies to SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, etc.
📖 Exam Pattern
✅ Tier I: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
- Mode: Online
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Sections:
Subject Questions Marks English Language 25 50 General Intelligence 25 50 Quantitative Aptitude 25 50 General Awareness 25 50 Total 100 200 - Negative Marking: 0.50 for each wrong answer
✍️ Tier II: Descriptive Paper
- Mode: Pen & paper
- Type: Essay and Letter/Application writing
- Marks: 100
- Duration: 1 hour
- Language: English or Hindi
💻 Tier III: Skill/Typing Test
- For DEO: Data Entry Speed of 8000 key depressions/hour
- For LDC/JSA: Typing speed of 35 wpm (English) or 30 wpm (Hindi)
