• The Border Security Force (BSF) has released its 2025 recruitment notification for 1,121 Head Constable (Radio Operator & Radio Mechanic) positions.

Nationality

• Applicants must be Indian citizens

Age Limit (as on closing date, 23 September 2025)

• General/EWS: 18–25 years
• OBC: 18–28 years
• SC/ST: 18–30 years
• Departmental (LDCE): UR/EWS up to 40, OBC up to 43, SC/ST up to 45 years
• Relaxations apply for Ex-Servicemen, widows, etc.

Educational Qualifications

• Both RO & RM:
  • Option 1: Class 12 (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) as core subjects, with at least 60% aggregate.
  • Option 2: Class 10 pass plus 2-year ITI certificate in approved trades such as Radio & Television, Electronics, Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), Mechatronics, Network Technician, Communication Equipment Maintenance, etc.

4. Physical Standards & Tests

Applicants must meet minimum standards in the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

• Ex-Servicemen and departmental candidates are exempt from PST & PET.

5. Selection Process

The recruitment process comprises several stages:

1. PST & PET (physical standards & fitness test)
2. Computer-Based Test (CBT) – Objective-type written exam
3. Document Verification, Dictation & Paragraph Reading (for RO)
4. Medical Examination.

CBT Exam Pattern & Syllabus

• Pattern:
  • Total Questions: 100
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Marks: 200 (2 marks per question)
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.

  • Physics: 40 Qs (80 marks)
  • Mathematics: 20 Qs (40 marks)
  • Chemistry: 20 Qs (40 marks)
  • English & GK: 20 Qs (40 marks)
• Minimum Qualifying Marks:

6. Pay Scale

• Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-4 of the 7th CPC pay matrix (₹25,500 – ₹81,100), along with applicable allowances.

7. Application Procedure & Fee

• Applications must be submitted online at the BSF recruitment portal (rectt.bsf.gov.in or bsf.gov.in) starting 24 August until 23 September 2025.
